Rally at British Columbia Provincial Legislature: Against rule by Decree! Against plunder of public funds!

On May 29th, a demonstration was held in front of the BC provincial legislature in protest of the members of the Legislative assembly voting themselves a pay raise (from the tax dollars of the people of British Columbia).

Many citizens of Victoria marched to the Provincial legislature, to make thier outrage known, among them a delegation from VMLO, and immediately the wheels started to turn in the governments counter-reaction.

From the very begining, the legislature security exploited a loophole in the rules of the legislature grounds to confine the demonstrators to the sidelines, out of the public eye. They claimed that no person or organization could sell things on legislature grounds; because the demonstrators were holding a barbecue for donation (More for the fun of it, than for profit,), they were forced to the edge of the legislature grounds.

In addition to forcing the demonstration out of sight, the provincial government called a counter-demonstration. An apparently spontaneous gathering of government employees and school children formed in front of the provinicial legislature, apperently to talk about some sort of provincial sporting intiative. Now, while it is possible that the event organizers of the MLA pay demonstration may have not planned very well, and organized a demontration on a parallel date to the government event. On the other hand, how is it that I saw advertisements set up around the city for the MLA advertisement and yet nothing for this government organized intiative? In my converstions with legislature security staff, even they seemed to have heard nothing in adavance about the government sponsered event going on that day. the whole thing sounded a little convenient to me.

So, the citizens protesting the MLA pay increase opened up the microphones for speeches, and of course Victoria Marxist-Leninist Organization took the stage to speak their peice. The main point driven home by VMLO was our disatisfaction with the governments plundering of public funds, and their total neglect of the problems of the working class.

New symbol adopted by Victoria Marxist-Leninist Organization

As of May 23, 2007, by general consensus a new  symbol was adopted by the membership of Victoria Marxist-Leninist organization.

The symbol was decided on-line by putting into practice the democratic-centralist method. The voter turnout was impressive, and the results were a clear majority.

The symbol itself, while based on the "Hammer and Sickle"  of the Soviet Union, represents the two largest industries of Vancouver Island: The fishing and lumber industries.

Mayday rally on day of mourning for injured workers, April 28th, 2007

On April 28th, international day of mourning for all workers, VMLO hosted a rally in downtown Victoria, Centenial square. In light of the lack of other Victoria workers movements to organize a public presence on Mayday in many years, the Victoria Marxist Leninist organization took the initiative to organize a high-profile event, intended also to coincide with Mayday festivities.

From their stage, Comrade Ravenblade spoke  about the myth of Americas "triumph" in the  cold war, and dispelled the myth that Marxism-Leninism was dead and defeated. Comrade Tiparith spoke about the necesity of workers struggle against the bourgeoise and class consiousness, with the promise of similar events (like our rally) to come.

Discussion ensued, between those who were angrily demanding an explenation for our un-apologetic support of the USSR, and between those who found our event both insightful and encouraging.

The greates objective, public exposure and sparked interest in the movement as well as discussion on the world today, was accomplished. The hecklers went un-aknowledged, and valuable experience was gained in the first ,major struggle by VMLO, independent of the participation of any other workers organization.

Victoria Marxist-Leninist Organization organizes event to mark the 137th anniversary of the Birth of V.I. Lenin

 April 22. 2007

Members of the Victoria Marxist Leninist Organization (VMLO) marked the anniversary of the birth of the founder of the USSR, and leader of the Bolshevik party, comrade Vladimir Ilich Ulynaov (Lenin).

At the Orange hall in Fernwood, the Comrades of VMLO gathered. Comrade RavenBlade was the first to give toasts and make a short speech, emphasizing that "Lenins ideas are just as relevant today as ever.". Comrade Tiparith was the next to speak, talking about the necesity for a sustainable society, built on the ideas of Lenin,

and on the general dissillusion among the people about Capitalism.

Afterwards the comrades of VMLO, and representatives from the local Young Communist league (YCL), gathered in the basement of the hall for discussion, and toasted comrade Lenin with vodka.

On the 137th anniversary of his birth, we pay our respect and emphasize the achievements of the leader of the Bolshevik party of the Soviet Union, V.I. Lenin.

Lenins ideas are still valid!

Uphold revolution and Marxism-Leninism!

Victoria Communists participate in 4th year anniversary of the imperialist war in Iraq

March 22, 2007

A few members of the Victoria Commie Club were present at the March 17th Demonstration against the presence of Imperialist occupiers in Iraq. March 17 is a significant date, as it marks the beginning of American military operations against Iraq, four years ago. As a show of solidarity, this day has also become a demonstration against Canadian imperialist operations in Afghanistan.

Commie Club Victoria was among the organizations that contributed to this demonstration, as part of their firm stance against Imperialist war and the war in Iraq in General.

To emphasize their point, Commie Club Victoria brought forward their banner, carrying the slogan "No war, but peoples war".

The demonstration proceeded from the Victoria city hall, down Douglas street to a Canadian Forces recruitment center, to a government building on Government street, and back to City hall. Despite the rain that soaked the demonstrators, spirits were high.

Launch of Commie Club Online.

December 21, 2006

Welcome to Commie Club online, official webpage of the Victoria Commie Club discussion group.

Who are we?: We are a recently formed collective of Marxist-Leninists in Victoria,British Columbia (Canada), dedicated to the goal of Socialist revolution, along the lines of Marxist-Leninist theory. We meet regularly to discuss theory and action, and plan actions here in Victoria to advance the cause of socialism.

Why Marxism-Leninism?: Why not?

Where do we stand on the other communist parties/organizations of Canada?:

We recognize the need for a united front against the threat of imperialism, but hold no illusions about many parties that constitute the progressive movement. It is precisely because of the level of capitulation and opportunism within the Canadian socialist left that prompted the formation of our organization in the first place. We recognize that some organizations, like ourselves, are of like-minded principals, and consider them fraternal organizations, and we make the greatest efforts to encompass the enitre strata of revolutionary forces in the fight against imperialism and the bourgeosie class, but we recognize that certain organizations no longer entertain any ideas of socialist revolution.
